Comelec Dismisses Viral Post Claiming Barangay and SK Polls Will Be Held in December

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has warned the public about another false social media post, this one claiming that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will take place in December.
The poll body addressed the claim on its Facebook page, responding to a post by a user named Gallaza Sharly Paradise. That post said voting would happen this month and that candidates could begin filing certificates of candidacy (COCs) on October 26.
Comelec said the claim is untrue. “Under the existing law, no barangay or SK elections will be held this year, and the COC filing set for October 26, 2026 is not going ahead,” the agency stated.
The schedule changed after President Marcos signed Republic Act No. 12326 on September 24. The law extended the terms of barangay and SK officials from three years to five years, which moved the next BSKE to November 2028.
